Friction Stir Welding With Pin

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) Simulation Using an Out of Alignment Pin

In this project, the tool is modeled with an out of alignment pin and the two parts -which are going to be welded are- are modeled using SPH (Smooth particle hydrodynamics) due to complex element deformation.

 

 

The tool is modeled with a combination of rigid and elastic material which are capable of moving in the predefined boundary conditions. A dynamic friction is considered between SPH and solid elements to generate heat for welding process. In this process, the tool rotational speed is highly important which can has a great effect on temperature of the parts.
