Analysis of Chimney Explosion

In this project a finite element analysis was performed to evaluate the following items with regard to a chimney destruction using TNT explosive materials:


  1.  Impact velocity
  2. Total damage area
  3. Time to impact

24 numbers of TNT materials were employed to explode the chimney. There were distributed among a region as it happened in reality. The chimney was 55m in height with 6meter in diameter.

Model Charactgeristics were as follow:

  1. ALE procedure were used in this explicit simulation.
  2. Two Soil_and_foam materials have been assigned to chimney and the ground with relevant failure criteria.
  3. Mat_null and MAT_HIGH_EXPLOSIVE_BURN have been assigned to air and TNT respectively.
